Problem with college is they charge way too much for what they provide. College today isn't about academics. Colleges have basically put a premium on it, for the opportunity to network with students and professors, when that should just be built into the experience. Problem with the Healthcare system in the United States is that big corps and big industries have deals and partnerships that make it impossible for any other potential competitors to have even a prayer. They are protected by lobbying the government. All of our social, educational, and Healthcare systems need leaders to step up and compete with these big industry and government programs so they have to do better or go under. We also need to elect just and honorable leaders in state and federal government who will push back against the established order and bust up these unholy unions of ig corps and government.

I do have to say that one benefit of homework is that you get the time you need to learn a concept by repetition, and it requires and teaches accountability on the part of the student. So for example, math and language skills definitely need more time to develop through repetition than what is provided in the classroom. Another one would be reading. The student needs more time to get through books than class time provides. Reading comprehension and math skills of students in the United States have become pretty dismal, so no homework would be pretty detrimental to that. All students should be offered a study hall period so that they can finish a majority of their homework at school, with tutors offered and available during that period. Some teachers do assign way too much homework, and some students take a lot longer than others to finish their work because of differences in cognitive ability and other circumstances. But, public school has always and will always be geared towards the "average" student, leaving others behind or basically dragging them over the finish line. Public education, as a government program, is definitely not designed for more than a basic education, to make compliant workers, despite what complex subjects it may offer or mandate.

I love the poddy and listening to your experiences. Drew it's brave to open up about these experiences online too and I know you get excited but sometimes let ya dad talk and say his experience or opinion on the subjects too 😂😂 sometimes you all talk over each other and it's hard to hear all of you speak your own opinions on issues. No hate! just an observation while trying to listen ❤❤

My dad is a big fan of racism. He makes the most outrageous statements and comments about Romani people, Arabic people, Muslims, and other races and their cultures and him, having all his information from stereotypes that he learned from his rancid childhood without actually meeting or looking into different cultures from an educated perspective, and me who has done hours of research on various cultures around the world from non racist sources and the actual members of that culture, he believes I am dumb and wrong because he lived longer. Dunning Kruger effect at its finest. And when I prove him wrong he pouts like a huge baby.

I wish I had just one person like this. I work all week, attend college, and have been trying to help raise my 9y/o brother since I was 11, just to be told it's not enough 🙁. I get no time to hang out with friends or even do my hobbies, which are pretty near non-existent now.
